Patricia Mong   

Patricia has seven years’ experience in the power sector. Patricia has worked with six of the eleven distribution companies in Nigeria, supporting them in in tariff negotiations, tariff modelling, incentive regulation, the development of business plans, network modelling, loss reduction and the provision of energy demand studies. She has detailed expertise in the regulatory, economic and technical aspects of utility businesses. 

Patricia played an important role in the development of a renewable energy toolbox for the West Africa region, including delivering training to 60 international participants from regulatory agencies, utilities and governments across West Africa. The toolbox consists of models to represent renewable energy independent power plants (IPPs), national renewable energy targets, mini-grids and prosumers with household renewable energy. 

Patricia provides ongoing training to build, maintain and develop the capability of the in-house teams of several distribution companies in Nigeria to ensure that utility staff are able to effectively implement or utilise the models and tools developed by EMRC. She has acted as the Regulatory Manager embedded within Enugu distribution company since early 2017.

Patricia holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus and a MSc in Energy Systems Engineering from the University of Surrey, UK. There she developed skills in process modelling and simulation, optimisation, process systems design, wind energy, biomass processing, energy economics, and plant operation.
